    Frequently asked questions

    Have a different question?

Merchant funding: working capital based on your processing history

Merchant funding provides working capital to businesses based on their payment processing history rather than traditional credit alone. Repayment is typically tied to a share of future card sales, so payments flex with revenue.

Everpay Funding is available to eligible merchants. Terms and approval depend on your processing history and underwriting.

How does revenue-based merchant funding generally work?

Revenue-based funding gives a business upfront capital that is repaid from a share of future sales. It is not equity, and the amount owed is usually agreed in advance. Because repayment follows revenue, payments tend to be larger when sales are strong and smaller when they are slow, though the total owed generally does not change.

Offers are typically built around a merchant's processing history. The funder looks at how much you process, how consistently and how the business has performed, which is why this kind of product is often linked to a payment processor. Offers, amounts and terms depend on underwriting and are not guaranteed. See the funding page for what Everpay offers and contact to discuss your situation.

What drives eligibility, and how is repayment collected?

Eligibility usually depends on processing volume and history, the consistency of sales, business category, existing obligations and the results of underwriting. A longer, steadier record generally supports stronger offers, while volatile sales, high refund or dispute rates or higher-risk categories can reduce options. No merchant is guaranteed an offer.

Repayment mechanics vary by program. In general, a set percentage of card sales or deposits is directed toward the balance until the agreed amount is repaid. Others use fixed periodic debits. Ask how repayment is calculated, what happens during a slow period, whether there are minimums or fees and what happens if you change processor during the term.

    • Processing history and consistency of monthly sales.
    • Refund, dispute and chargeback levels.
    • Business category and years of operation.
    • Existing debt and other obligations.

What questions should you ask to compare the cost of funding?

Funding has a cost, and it is not always quoted like a loan. Instead of an interest rate, many offers show a fixed fee or a payback amount. To compare fairly, convert each option to the total you will repay, the length of time it is likely to take and the effective annual cost.

Also consider whether the money solves the real problem. If the gap comes from slow settlement, a faster payout may cost less than borrowing, as explained in The Float Tax. Read the full agreement, and consider speaking to a financial adviser before accepting.

    • What is the total amount repaid, and what is the cost of the funding?
    • How is repayment calculated and how long might it take?
    • Are there origination, administration or early-repayment fees?
    • Can you take additional funding, and what are the conditions?
    • How does it affect your cash flow in a slow season?
    • Does the offer depend on you staying with this processor?

    How funding works

Eligible merchants are offered an amount based on processing volume and history. Repayment is collected as a percentage of future sales until the agreed amount is repaid.

    When it makes sense

Funding can help with inventory, seasonal peaks or expansion, but it has a cost. Compare it with other options and read the terms carefully.

    Faster cash flow alternatives

Sometimes faster settlement solves the cash gap without borrowing. See The Float Tax.
