    Payment security and compliance, explained

Payment security protects cardholder data, merchant funds and your reputation. It combines technical controls, such as encryption and tokenization, with governance, such as audits, access control and monitoring.

This page describes how Everpay approaches security. For policies, regulatory disclosures and vendor documentation, visit the trust center.

How Everpay protects cardholder data from capture to settlement

Protection starts at the point of capture. Card details are entered into hosted fields and replaced with tokens, so your systems handle references rather than raw card numbers. Tokens can be reused for saved cards and subscriptions without exposing the underlying data.

Data is encrypted in transit between customers, merchants, the platform and its partners, and encrypted at rest where it is stored. Access to systems and data is limited by role, and sensitive actions are logged so they can be reviewed. Network controls separate environments, and secrets such as API keys are kept out of code and logs.

These are layers rather than a single wall. If one control fails, others are designed to limit the effect. Read the fraud prevention page to see how risk controls add to these protections.

    • Hosted capture and tokenization to reduce exposure of card data.
    • Encryption in transit and at rest.
    • Role-based access controls and audit logging.
    • Scoped API keys, request signing and webhook verification.
    • Monitoring and alerting for unusual activity.

What PCI DSS alignment means for your own compliance scope

Everpay aligns to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard and displays the marks shown on this site. For vendor reviews, contact our team and we can provide the documentation that applies to your situation.

PCI DSS is a shared responsibility. Using hosted fields or hosted checkout generally reduces how much of your environment handles card data, which can reduce the scope of your own assessment. It does not remove your responsibilities. Your obligations depend on how you integrate, and a merchant that collects card data directly on its own pages carries more of the burden than one that uses hosted capture.

Check with your own assessor or acquirer about which self-assessment applies to your setup. The trust center indexes our policies and public documents.

How strong authentication, monitoring and screening reduce risk

Security also covers the customer's identity and the legitimacy of the merchants on the platform. 3D Secure adds bank-level authentication to payments that need it, which supports strong customer authentication requirements in regions that have them. Risk-based triggering keeps friction low for ordinary payments.

On the compliance side, business verification, sanctions screening and transaction monitoring help prevent misuse of the payment network. Read our AML policy and the restricted businesses policy for how those rules apply.

Monitoring ties it together. Rate limiting, anomaly detection and alerting help surface abuse early, and logging supports investigations afterward.

How to run a vendor security review with a payment provider

A useful review asks specific questions rather than collecting logos. Ask which data is stored and where, how tokens are issued and protected, how access is granted and revoked, how incidents are handled and communicated, and how changes are tested before release. Ask how the provider supports your own compliance duties as a merchant.

Bring your security team into the conversation early. Contact us to request documentation, and share your questionnaire so the right people can answer it. You can also review how security connects to the payment gateway before you decide.

    • What data is stored, where and for how long.
    • How tokens, keys and secrets are protected.
    • How access is granted, reviewed and removed.
    • How incidents are detected, handled and disclosed.
    • Which compliance duties remain with the merchant.

    Tokenization and encryption

Card details are captured in hosted fields and replaced with tokens, so merchants can store and reuse payment methods without holding raw card numbers. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

    Security and compliance

Everpay's card handling is designed around the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Contact us to discuss our security controls for your vendor review.

    AML, KYC and sanctions screening

We verify businesses and owners, screen against sanctions lists and monitor transactions. Read our AML policy.

    Continuous monitoring

Real-time monitoring, rate limiting and fraud scoring detect abuse early. See fraud prevention.
